ASTM A554 Square Tubing
ASTM A554 specification is a common standard for welded stainless steel mechanical tubing, besides square-shaped tubing, round tubing, rectangular tubing, and special forms tubes. All tubes are produced strictly as A554, with no additional metal added.
Both welded and annealed conditions are available, square mechanical tubing should be cold worked, usually, stainless steel square tubing is polished in various grits to achieve a bright surface, there are mill finishes and polished finishes for square tubing, polishing tubing finishes including 180 Grit (#4 polish), 240 Grit, 320 Grit and a #8 mirror finish.

304/304L Stainless Steel Square Tubing
304 stainless steel grade is the most used material for square tubing, 304 offers good corrosion resistance and overall properties including good weldability, and formability to meet most requirements, it is an economical selection. 304 Stainless Steel Square Tube has very good formability and can be readily welded by all common methods. Grade 304L is the same as the 304 except it has a low-carbon analysis, the advantage of which is that it precludes any harmful precipitation in the 800º F to 1500º F range, such as might otherwise occur in welding heavier sections. 304/304L dual certified. It is commonly used for fabrication and tooling applications.
ASTM A554 specified stainless steel grades with the prefix MT, like MT201, MT304, MT316, and MT316L.
