Stainless steel (SS) is the abbreviation of stainless and acid-resistant steel, resistant to air, steam, water and other weak corrosive media or stainless steel is known as stainless steel; and will be resistant to chemical corrosive media (acids, alkalis, salts, and other chemical impregnation) corrosion of the steel is known as acid-resistant steel.

Customs HS code classification of stainless steel, and we generally say that stainless steel may not be the same, but basically, it is similar. The definition of stainless steel in the Tariff Code is roughly like this:

Stainless steel is defined as alloy steel in which the metal chromium (Cr) content in the steel is greater than 10.5 % (referring to the weight percentage). Due to the role of Cr, the steel surface generates a dense layer of insoluble in certain media of solid Cr-rich oxide film (passivation film), so that the metal and the outside medium are isolated from chemical action, so the steel in the atmosphere has the characteristics of non-rust.

The Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System (hereinafter referred to as HS) stipulates that stainless steel is an alloy steel containing ≤1.2% carbon and ≥10.5% chromium by weight, regardless of whether or not it contains other elements. Different elements and different combinations of input ratios can produce a variety of different grades and uses of stainless steel.
