409L stainless steel is a ferritic, weldable grade of stainless steel grade, 409L stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, can realize high-efficiency engine and exhaust system, and reduce the thickness of the exhaust system, can reduce the emission of exhaust gas. Grade 409L (EN 1.4512) is composed of 10.5 – 12.5% chromium, a low composition of carbon and nitrogen, and an adjunction of titanium, these compositions make grade 409L stainless steel have good corrosion resistance, weldability and formability. Due to the lower chromium, Grade 409L was another low-cost option for corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
